Menu Links do not work - unable to setup a menu link to categories

I have downloaded Joomshopping v 3.2.5 to use with Joomla 1.7
I am trying to link my menu to a specific category, lets say category I.D '1', but when I press save joomla changes the Link option to 'StaticText'.
Then when I go to the front end, the menu link I have just created shows ALL products in ALL categories.
Also, when selecting 'Menu Item Type', you have the following options:
Shop, Basket, Search, User, Wishlist, Manufacturers, Vendors, StaticPage, Products........ but the only one of these which it allows me to select is 'Products'. When I try selecting any of the other menu type options it just changes back to Products every time.
I have tried reinstalling both the component, and joomla 1.7 numerous times, but the error still occurs. Please help!! I very much would like to use this component for some online shops I am building.
Thanks for your help,
Keith

I am also having the same problem, I choose category/category.
Then choose the ID (1) as I only have two categories.
When I save I just get "Static Page" showing and then
when I go to the menu and choose the menu item it shows all products from both categories.

Please help, I have until Thursday to work this out!

Thanks in Advance

Ok, So static page doesnt matter.

When I click on the menu item it still shows me ALL products from both categories and not just the products from category 1 (or category 2 from the next menu item.)

Both menus (cat 1 and cat 2) show all products from both categories.

You seem to be missing this problem out from all your answers above?

Any advice?

Yes, I am selecting shop, and then category/category and entering the category ID (which is 1) and it is NOT working.

Please just publish a workthrough for this?
You do not seem to want to answer the question?

I want to show the products from one category only from one menu item....
and other products from another category on another menu item...

HOW DO I DO THIS?

Ok, I seem to have worked this out in that I was using Firefox and it wasnt saving properly, I have just done the same thing in Safari and all has worked fine.

Maybe there is a bug for saving in Firefox.

So... To select Categories from Menu items... ensure that you are not using firefox to admin Joomla!

Thanks for your help on this.

Aw: Menu Links do not work - unable to setup a menu link to categories

Hi,
I am having the same problem,
I have created three different categories. each category has one product in it. If i follow the steps listed by the designer to create the menu and select the category i want to show in the 'required options'.
If i then go to the website and select one of the menus it shows all the products???

Any ideas on what to do. There is no point in creating menus if it does not filter the products properly...

If your problem is that you only get Products regardless of what you are selecting in the joomla menu set-up, there is a patch that I found lying around here somewhere a few weeks back. Just can't find it again, but here's the deal. It works well for jshop v 3..2.6 and .7 at least. Make these changes:

In administrator/components/com_menus/helpers/menus.php,

look up the line that reads:

protected static $_filter=array('option', 'view', 'layout');

and change it to (addition in bold):

protected static $_filter=array('option', 'view', 'layout', 'controller');

After making this patch, reloading the pages etc,

1) choose Shop in the menu set-up (joomla menu, jShop menu type),

2) choose category/category in the "Show" field (upper right corner)

3) add corresponding ID for the category you want to show in the Category ID field,

things ought to start working.

Link to the manufacturer is not working, the patch doesn't help.
And another question. Can I make a link both manufacturer and category?

This is beyond my knowledge at the time being, but I too would like to know.

Btw, I wasn't the one who invented the patch, I just found it and realized I was far from alone having the Need To Know. As the topic comes up every other day, I have made it kind of a hobby to notice newbies about it.

Tip for asking questions: Apparently it's easier to get an answer if one states short, clear and technical questions, as in "How may I change XXX?". When you get a short ,and often very succinct, but not entirely useful answer, you may ask for the next step. Mr Webdesigner seems to be busy and short on time. The best thing we can do is make life easier on him(?!)* to divulge the wisdom we are thirsting for, yeah.

(* Often the answers are so short and mechanic, I have started to wonder if Mr Webdesigner has simply written a script to look for certain strings and then insert default values as answers. I may be utterly wrong about this though...)
