I can not see the orders!

Hi,
Yesterday I made an order and check that online selling is working. I saw the order which I created in backend. But today I make en order in frontend and can not see orders now in backend...

Is there any limitation? What is the problem?

click "Confirm order"
open site PayPal
close brouser (not pay) OR
click "back"

I do not want to pay from internet. Just want to get orders from customers?..

By the way How can I remove "lock status" from "not finished" orders?

I made the change to phpMyadmin - but on the next order the same thing happened. Is there anyway to make this a global change?
