Search module - the first search input keeps showing even after other entries

This works fine but it is annoying that the first entry for search keeps appearing even after several other entries. Is it possible to show 1) the last search entry or 2) leave the field blank. When the initial entry shows it might look like the search itself is not working which it does. Any help is greatly appreciated!
